With this year’s FPL squad values now confirmed, players of the hugely popular game have begun picking their teams for Gameweek 1 on 16 August.
Managers are given a budget of £100 million to build their squads, with every Premier League player given a value based on their ability, previous record and points scored.
But it’s champions Manchester City whose players will cost the most on average this season.
To determine who has the most expensive FPL squad for 2024/25, SafeBettingSites added up the total value of every player for each club, finding both the total squad price and average player value.
Key Data Points:
- Manchester City players topped the price charts at an average cost of £6.3M
- Arsenal took second place with their players costing £5.92M on average
- Chelsea had the highest total squad value at £207.5M, but also the largest squad

Manchester City On Top Again For FPL Squad Values
It’s probably no surprise to see Manchester City players topping the table for average player costs.
Pep Guardiola’s team not only contains the most expensive individual in £15M striker Erling Haaland, but the champions also boast a relatively small squad of 25 mostly high-value stars.
With City favourites for yet another title, it’s natural that players in their squad will be expected to rack up the most FPL points, therefore costing players the most to add to their team.
Gunners Settle For Second Place
Although they pushed City close in the title race, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal took second spot in the Premier League once again, and this is reflected in their FPL prices.
The Gunners have an average player cost this season of £5.92M, £0.38M less than Manchester City’s average cost of £6.3M.
Arsenal’s players are the second most-expensive, ahead of Liverpool whose players average £5.65M in price.
Chelsea’s Bloated Squad
Despite having the most valuable squad in terms of total price, Chelsea’s average cost per player of £5.19M only earns them seventh place.
This is because the Blues have the largest squad in FPL this season, at 40 strong compared to just 21 for both West Ham and Fulham.
With lots of lower-cost options, their average player price has been pushed down due to the large number of youngsters in their squad who are unlikely to get much game time.
Will FPL Squad Values Predict The Premier League Table?
If this year’s FPL prices are an accurate reflection of the final Premier League table this season, it would be a dramatic improvement for Manchester United.
Eric Ten Hag’s Red Devils finished a lowly eighth last season, but their average player price in 2024/25 of £5.41M is the fourth highest of any side.
That puts them above the likes of Aston Villa, Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle, despite all four finishing higher than United last season.
Southampton The Bargain Boys
For any FPL managers needing some cheap additions to squeeze into their squads, newly-promoted Southampton might be the place to look.
The Saints won promotion via the Championship play-offs after a fourth-placed finish in the regular season.
That makes them the lowest ranked of the three promoted sides, which is reflected by their average player price of just £4.5M, the lowest of any club’s.
