The Premier League has cemented its position as the most popular league globally, and it’s not a surprise that it boasts of the biggest share of international sponsors. According to the numbers presented by SafeBettingSites.com, 85% of main shirt sponsors in the Premier League are not domestic.

According to the latest report on football financials and sponsorships in European football from UEFA, the Premier League boasts of the biggest share of foreign companies or brands as main-shirt sponsors. As per the report, 85% of main shirt sponsors (17 out of 20) in the Premier League are foreign companies. This statistic points towards the unmatchable global appeal of the Premier League. Furthermore, the profile of sponsors in the Premier League breaks the trend in the remaining European leagues. In comparison, for no other major European league, the share of foreign sponsors even crosses 50%. Furthermore, 80% of all sponsors across European top football divisions are domestic.
After the Premier League, Serie A , the top football division in Italy, grabs the second with just 47% of sponsorships coming from non-Italian companies or brands. Serie A is followed by La Liga – the top football division in Spanish football. Only 42% of all main shirt sponsors in La Liga are foreign brands or companies.
Among the top five European leagues, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 have the lowest share of foreign sponsors. In both of the leagues, only 22% of main shirt sponsors are foreign companies or brands. The share of foreign sponsors in these two leagues is even smaller than the Portuguese Primeira Liga, which is undoubtedly a smaller league than the other two. In the top tier of Portuguese football, 28% of main-shirt sponsors are foreign. On the opposite spectrum, Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football, has only 6% foreign main shirt sponsors.
